Depending on the kind of contest you’ve chosen to run, we help you with all judging services after it ends.
Contest skill competitions where the selection of winning entries is open to subjective interpretation should be judged by a demonstrably independent, competent judge(s) or a panel with at least one independent member.
Promotion Activators provides credentialed judges to review/score the contest entries. For example, if you held a photo contest, we assemble a panel of experienced judges that include photo editors and professional photographers to judge the entries. Similarly, if it’s an essay contest, our judging panel includes published authors, professors of creative writing, and/or copywriters from the advertising industry. After the judging is over, we record and validate all the final scores.
Promotion Activators ensures winners are determined in a fair way, we also guarantee that the correct number of winners is selected.
While there’s no legal requirement that you use an independent judging agency to choose winners for your promotion, we recommended it. This protects your brand from any questions as to whether winners were determined based on biases or prejudices.
Promotion Activators has a superlative record selecting and determining winners in strict compliance with all official rules administered. If it is a random-draw sweepstakes, we utilize proprietary software to ensure that winners are determined in a fair and random fashion and all drawings are witnessed. While there is no legal mandate that a sponsor utilize an independent judging agency to determine their promotion’s winners, it is best practice to do so. Whether true or not, questions can be raised by entrants as to whether winners were determined based upon biases or prejudices. We provide the sponsor the ability to defend themselves against those questions by acting as their independent judging agency. It is the same reason that the Academy Awards depends upon an accounting company to tabulate votes that determine Oscar winners.
Using Promotion Activators as a third party judging agency helps the sponsor avoid the appearance of impropriety, bias, or prejudice to the consumer with respect to the determination of prize winners.
As for skill contests, Promotion Activators provides credentialed judges expert in their respective fields to review/score entries. If it is a photo contest, we assemble a panel of experienced judges that include photo editors at national newspapers, professional photographers, and/or college photography teachers. If it is an essay contest, our judging panel includes published authors, professors of creative writing, and/or copywriters from the advertising industry. All scores are recorded and validated by Promotion Activators.
In addition to ensuring that winners are determined in a fair, legal, manner Promotion Activators guarantees the correct number of winners are selected. There’s a reason rules contain the statement “…no more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded…”. Mistakes can happen and while our record is perfect in this regard, we do carry promotion specific Errors & Omission insurance to protect our clients and provide them greater peace of mind.
Promotion Activators ensures your contest is compliant according to current enforcement of federal and state laws. If we are responsible for the judging of contest entries and selection of winners, we will assemble a panel of judges expert in the applicable area (i.e. photography, cooking, creative writing, etc.) and ensure strict compliance with the official rules.
A Contest is a competition where participants submit for judgment an evidence of a particular skill. For online contests such evidence is typically presented as user generated content (UGC) such as a photo, video, essay, drawing, etc. The submissions are then judged by a panel of judges or a public vote and the winner is chosen.
Unlike sweepstakes and games, a skill contest may require proofs of purchase (there are exceptions in a handful of states – IL, NJ, MD, TN, CO, ND, NE and, in some cases, AZ ). A contest typically get maximum consumer involvement.
